Is it a pop-up saying that?

Yeah it's a pop-up. It later came up after the phone crashing. It wasn't there initially. It popped up after several attempts of resetting and trying to connect it to itunes.

That is a bad pop up to get. Sounds like your baseband may be corrupt.

So does that mean I'm out of luck? Or that the phone will no longer work because it's not letting me restore it either?

Anytime I have seen that error coupled with missing IMEI I havent been able to fix it. Corrupt baseband or hardware error in my experience.

Ok well I guess that I'm going to attempt a restore right now then. Unless you think there's any way to extract my contacts?

Well I put it in dfu mode and iTunes pops up and tries to restore it. So I guess I'm just going to restore it to iOS 4.0.1 and then just jailbreak it. It's just frustrating that I'm basically gonna lose some contacts.

Ok well back to the problem with my 3gs. So I attempted to restore to iOS 4.0.1 but as I'm sure you know, and I'm just playing catch up on all the iphone info, Apple is no longer signing that firmware and I get 3194 error code and it doesn't restore so I tried using tiny umbrella to save my shsh and that didn't work so I figured screw it I'm just going to update the newest firmware 4.2.1. and it loads all the way until approximately 2% from finish and then I get a code 1002 error message. Then I'm searching and searching and trying many things to at least try and get some fw up on the phone but I have either received an almost finish with error 1002 or a half way finish with error 9. Then I started reading about custom .ipsw's and downloaded several versions (4.0, 4.2.1, 4.0.1) and used iREB to put them in DFU mode that allows those.psw's to work. I first tried custom .ipsw 4.0 and it actually worked and loaded up. But the problem with that is there's no reception (it just keeps searching), and there's no wifi or bluetooth (they're "grayed out" in settings). I remember reading something about that happening with tethered or untethered fw I'm not sure which as I said I'm playing catch up. But I figured since I have something running on the phone that means maybe I can just update/restore the phone to the regular 4.2.1 fw. That doesn't work it does the almost finish with 1002 error again then I go back to the custom .ipsw 4.0 and it worked again so I tried going from there to the custom .ipsw 4.0.1 and I got the 3194 error at the end (which I'm assuming means that apple won't sign off on it) then I go back again to .ipsw 4.0 and then try to restore from there to custom 4.2.1 .ipsw and it almost finishes and then I get the 1002 error code again but on the custom .ipsw. Please if you have any ideas or suggestions it would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you,
    S

Im not sure what error 1002 is, error 9 is not a good one to get though.

Default iphone 4 stuck on apple logo

I have a jailbroken iphone that is stuck on the apple logo when i try to turn it on. It crashed when i installed quickreplysms 2.0 and tried to restart springboard. It then put my iphone into safemode. To take it out of safemode it turned it off. When I tried to turn it on all that would come up is the apple logo. How do I backup my contacts before restoring? thanks
