Help, iblacklist has frozen my 3Gs
Hi,
Guys my uncle asked me if there was an app to block incoming calls the other day, I said yea. So I put iblacklist on without much though and didn't check to see if it was compatible with his firmware or not.
After installing it and restarting the iPhone, it froze at the enter pass code screen. The screen is completely unresponsive and it re springs after about 5 min to same screen, then after another 5 or so minutes reboots and hangs at the pass code screen again before repeating all the above over and over.
I tried sleep+home button to restart it forcefully but I think since it loads the iblacklist substrate on every boot it still hangs.
I tried using iphone browser and iphone explorer to see if it would let me into the file system so that I could delete the iblacklist files, but they don't recognize the phone.
I tried diskaid 4.10 which immediately asks me to disconnect the phone, unlock it since its pass code protected, then reconnect. Which is useless.
Annoying thing is that people on youtube show that diskaid can be used to get rid of the pass code, but in their videos when the connect a pass code protected iphone it never asks to unlock it first. So I thought maybe I need to use an older version of diskaid, but the old ones just give me an itunesmobiledevice.dll error, perhaps I need to use an older version of itunes (currently 10).
I tried SSH but that didn't work, but I think I might be doing it wrong.
Now this wouldn't be an issue had my uncle regularly backed up his phone as I would just restore it. Unfortunately he hasn't so he risks loosing his contacts (only stuff he cares about).
Obviously if worst comes to worst I'll restore it but I would like to see what you guys can suggest before I do so.
So the questions I have for you guys are
- What else can I try
- Is there a version of DiskAid that doesnt ask you to unlock the passcode, as shown in youtube videos
- How to properly ssh using usb only
TL;DR
Put iblacklist on iPhone, restarted it and now its frozen at passcode screen and keeps rebooting and respringing ever 15 min or so.
Any suggestions ?
Thanks in advance

SSH should do the trick if he's already setup for it. How long have you let the phone actually sit and keep respringing? I've seen this happen before, after letting it do that for a bit, it should go into safe mode. In safemode you should be able to remove iblacklist via Cydia. Good luck, let me know how you solved it.

If it isn't jumping into safe mode, you might just have to restore. Especially since you said you can't SSH into if.

I tried ssh again using tunneltools and no luck, so I guess he did not have it set up.
I was kinda banking on safe mode as well, trying to get it into safe mode somehow but its been doing the same thing till battery dies and then keeps doing it after its charged. Funny how your phone boots into safe mode when you dont want it to, but never does when you need it to.
I wonder if it is possible to manually trigger safe mode on all jailbroken firmwares by some button combination, kinda like recovery mode on the psp so that recovery tasks can be performed. I might look into this.
Yep just restored it to the latest firmware, I think he is better off with it just because he doesnt have time to be fiddling with the jailbreaking quirks.
On the good side he will now sync regularly with itunes
I am thinking of using ssh blobs to restore down to a jailbroken firmware now and using the tutorial on these forums to create a disk image of the iphone and trying to use photorec to recover the contacts database.
Thanks guys

This is probably really late..Next time use iFunBox and delete iBlackList.app and any other folder named iBlackList.
This worked for me!
