The 3g is VERY outdated, apple isn't even going to make new firmware for it.

Honestly, because of the jailbreak community. That's it. They are headed in interesting directions, enthusiastically, and the iPhone is good hardware. I get alot of use out of it and the devs are making things I want to use, unlike android. (when that changes I'll switch to android.) And in my opinion the phone is the only hardware/product apple makes that is even REMOTELY worth the price they ask for it. And after my experience with apple using this one product there's no chance I would ever pay their insultingly high prices to a fascist, controlling company like apple.
Hell, I have to pay a dollar extra just to unlock my Bluetooth on my phone and make it function as well as a $50 prepaid fone I got from the gas station...
