Iphone 3g..to upgrade os? Ringtone issue also.

Hiya -

I havent had my iphone for a while thanks to some water damage and damage to the smd inductor (needed for gsm signal) but decided to spend today fixing it and i'm back in action...ish.

1) My iphone 3g is on 3.1.3 *its jailbroken for mods*.. should i be staying at this version or upgrading to the new apple update? I have seen a jailbreak for iphone 4.0...and i imagine this means the os will be compatable with new releases of whatsapp but what's the deal with this now...will my iphone go laggy still? The provider doesnt need unlocking.


2) I can't get the earpiece to work could this also be the same flex as mentioned above? I have replaced the little ear component in the front facia but no joy - poss just a faulty one from ebay..


Feel free to add anything else i may have missed out on in the last 6 months for 3g
