Upgrade 3.1.2 without upgrading to 4.1

Hey is it possible to upgrade my phone to iOS 4.1 without going to 4.2? Should I edit the host file and delete apple address and try?

As long as you got SHSH saved for it then just download the custom FW from mmi and shift restore. Don't forget to preserve ya BB if ya rely on an unlock.
