A cydia app update yesterday froze my phone for about 30 minutes, I had to force restart it. Upon turning back on the phone stuck at the apple logo for another 30 minutes... I personally only need the contacts on the phone, then I have no problem wiping it clean again...
I scoured the internet for hours, and have alot of info, at the end of this fiasco I will consider writing a tutorial. But for the time being, I NEED HELP!
My #1 route would be to not have to restore the phone therefore this seems the most appealing I can SSH over, backup everythign so if I screw up I still have hard-data working. Id prefer using a ramdisk with ssh like on msft's blog, I recently found out that it may not work with 3g 4.2.1 is it true? If its possible, how do i build a custom ramdisk? Ive looked at the tutorials and need help
#2 route would be to "update" the phone with cooked firmware, so the phone gets restored and cleaned, but the user data, messages, contacts and such are still available as per Mostly iPhone hacking: Data recovery: not just for iBoot-pwned devices this would be functional, but if anything screws up, the data is gone for good... Also it says in highlighted letters "PwnageTool: Not recommended/might work" so that may not be an option as I jb'd with pwnage tool...?
Id personally like to go the #1 route, if anyone has ANY information at all about recovering data, and maybe giving me a very noobie step by step I would be very grateful. All opinions are welcome and if this works I will write an extensive step by step guide..
