Let's learn & let's teach.
Hello all. I'm glad to be part of the comunity here, sharing and learning as i'm new on this kind of forum, also new to iOS. I've benn reading some of the old posts. They are really usefull for new coms to iOS world like me. However i've noticed that this forum does allow topics about jailbreak (ing) iP but doesn't allow topics about crack app... In my understanding, who say JB say cracked app good for go. Both of them move together, unless i'm missing something as i'm new in the iOS world. Some explainations from the seniors here about why no crack app topics but jb topics yes will be really apreciated and more, it will helps understand better around jb and crack app. Hey, let's learn and teach, teach and learn, cause that's all we do and we do that all the time.

Banning the talk of warez/cracked apps just comes down to this site not supporting stealing. Cracking apps is essentially stealing. Jailbreaking was ruled legal in the DMCA. Unfortunately, people associate jailbreaking with cracked apps, when really, jailbreaking was made to open up the iPhone's file system so that developers could make apps before the App Store, and now make the iPhone completely customizable with countless tweaks in Cydia. Also, welcome to the site!

Thanks... And thanks for the light you trouh around the jbkin and the cracked app. I've never understood that jbkin was originate to allow developers to try their apps before the app store. It's a lot confiusing anyway when i read of hear people talkin about jb. Well i have a question for you, i do understand that installing cracked app are pure stealing... But then why will i want to jbreak my phone if it's only to install apple store app on it and while i'm no developer. And is cydia legal? Can i talk about cydia app over here? Or it's all cracked?
Thanks a lot for your info.

Jailbreaking is not about getting cracked apps.
Cydia of course is legal. Where in Cydia does it do anything illegal, considering jailbreaking is not illegal. It's an issue that there are repositories that contain cracked items but that isn't default by Cydia.
Basically, jailbreaking is not illegal nor is Cydia. We don't discuss anything having to do with stealing. If you are concerned with what can or cannot be mentioned, think about whether it is a form of stealing. If it's not, it's good for discussion.

Alright... I didn't know anything about cydia but now i do know some. Now i'm good to go i think. Thank you. Hey btw is there not any thank you button on this forum? I'm using the free version on MMI iP app, and i would like to press the thank button. If there is not, then it's okey it's even warmer when you can read it in letters i think.

Kind of late here, but let me answer this. We are on firmware 4.2.1 I think, but jailbreaking originated with 1.0. Back in those days, there was no App Store, so people made apps for the iPhone/iTouch through a program called Installer. After Cydia took over and the App Store was made, jailbreaking has stayed relevant because many of things posted are tweaks and apps that Apple wouldn't allow along with themes. Cydia is legal and we encourage talk about it. Depending on which sources you install, all the things are legal. Jailbreaking has been ruled legal by the court system, but it will void your warranty if Apple finds out about it. But if you ever have any problem, you've come to the right place for help!
