I've just heard from an AT&T employee that apple has released a virus to disable iPhone 2g/3g to force upgrades. The virus is said to ask to put your phone into airplane mode to reduce interferance and then the phone crashes after so long. I think there may be some merit to this as I have had the exact thing happen to my iPhone. Can anyone confirm or deny?
No not AT&T sending out a virus, Apple sending out a virus. I know it sounds a bit out there but I've also heard of Apple putting an expiration date in their products.
I do enjoy my iPhone greatly and hope this is not the case but the way my phone died just seemed so strange.

2. they get all the new ideas from the Jailbreak community e.g multitasking, Copy and Paste, Video etc, etc
So the community do the job for them to find out what we really want and the bring out a new firmware.
So they may say they are against it, they are not and i am sure they know which side their bread is buttered, and i am sure if they wanted to they could STOP jailbreaking all together, so why haven't they BECAUSE THEY LIKE IT LOL

Ok maybe I'm being too paranoid at the moment but has there been any known virus that's targeting iPhones? The iPhone in question was bought through craigslist 8 months ago. When I got it, it had 3.1.3 I jailbroke using redsn0w 0.9.4 after having it in my possesion for about a week, it's been in an otterbox since the day I got it and it has been great ever since until yesterday while at work I tried charging with an apple USB cord and power block and it kept asking me if I wanted to turn airplane mode to reduce interferane on I removed it from the charger and it continually kept prompting me to switch airplane mode on and then it died. I tried connecting to my laptop and it gave me a message saying the USB device has malfunctioned and now won't recognize my phone. It currently keeps flashing the connect to power icon and even though it's plugged in does not recognize the charger. Also both the charger port in the phone and the port on the charger have a little green corrosion only since yesterday. I lucked running into an apple store manager and he told me the green was corrosion and not water damage.
It asks to go into airplane mode because the accessory that you connected is not conpatible. And if it was a bad aftermarket accessory then it could have shorted out the connector.
It's not a virus, but AT&T has been sending text messages to iPhones notifying to upgrade to 4.2.1. However, it's just a text, it can't do anything to force an upgrade.
Well that's the weird thing. I finally got it to charge after about 15-20 minutes of it being on the car charger. But when I put it on a seperate apple USB cord it didn't want to do anything. Could I replace the charging port on the iPhone?
I did use a seperate USB cord to try to charge and no luck with it. I have got it to charge last night but only with my AT&T car charger.
Now the phone is fully charged but the "This accessory is not made to work with iPhone" "Would you like to turn on Airplane Mode to reduce audio interference? You will not be able to make of recieve calls."
The message comes on by itself and turns off even though it's not plugged in.
