iPhone from HELL!!! Help Please

OK my buddy just gave me his old 3GS because it was giving him too many problems... here is a list of the symptoms...

Note: Phone will act normal for about 8 hrs then all these problems will appear.

1. SMS will crash when sending, inbound sms won's come through at all.

2. Email will download won't show in the inbox.

3. Youtube wont connect to the internet.

4. iTunes/Appstore will ask you to agree to new terms then error, then repeat.

5. Call log wont update outgoing, incoming or missed calls.

6. When the phone is rebooted it will be in recovery mode. "Super Recovery" I call it because tinyumbrella nor iReb will knock it out of recovery mode. I have to do a full restore via iTunes.

Also, I have used tinyumbrella to restore this damn thing to 3.1.2 and to 4.0.1 same problems always come no matter which firmware.

I'm almost ready to go to the Apple Store and exchange thing.

3GS old bootrom currently running 4.2.1, baseband 05.15.04, boatloader 6.4...

If it's giving you so many problems as you described, send it back to Apple. There should be no reason as to why it would do those things, unless it has to do with AT&T.

Thanks for your reply. I really don't want to pay the Apple Store $200 for a replacement phone or for servicing... I don't think it is a AT&T problem, it seems like there some software issues. It feels like some sort of virus or malware, because after I restore the phone everything is OK but in 8 hours to a day things go haywire... but never searched online for that and these symptoms don't come up...

Has anybody heard of these things not being fixed by a restore?
