One of my friends got an I4 with 4.0 and save shsh in cydia just last week and in cydia shown just 4.2.1 after that he try to instal via redsnow 4.1 and he told me that was working once via thethered jaibreak after that phone goes in dfu mode and he revive him via shift restore to 4.2.1(after that the phone stay in recovery mode) i open tinyumbrela an it show that phone has 4.1 with 1.59 baseband but cant get out of recovery mode via tinyumbrella. Don't scream on me i google it and i found some tutorials how to upgrade to custom 4.1 without a saved shsh but didnt work.... So my question is do we have to wait untill 4.2.1 will be jailb..and unlocked after to upgrade to or is any other options available in this case? Please give me an answer persons who has the same story or somebody who know for sure....

You say you had an iPhone 4 on 4.1 with 1.59 baseband ?

you need to download f0rcast and connect the phone and let us know waht its saying now regarding your Firmware and Baseband.

4.2.1 is Jailbrakable but there is no unlock for the Baseband that goes with it.

So do you need the Unlock ?

Like i said run f0rcast and let us know what it says

i didnt run forcast but right now the phone is in recovery mode and tiny umbrella show 4.1 and 1.59 baseband with only 4.2.1 shsh saved and in cydia is only saved blobs for 4.2.1 so how i understand phone cant be kick out from restore mode beacause is no shsh blob for 4.1

Tiny umbrella will only show the stats of the last known successful boot up, so that isnt necessarily what is still on the phone. phone was upgraded from 4.0 to 4.1 through redsnow without shsh saved in cydia and he goes in dfu mode with no signs of life after that i restore him with 4.2.1 with redsnow and he goes in recovery mode with itunes logo on display for now when i try recboot or tinyumbrela it restart show aplle logo after a lilbit it restart again and goes in recovery mode

If you restored to 4.1 without SHSH then you will be left in dfu because the boot process checks for the 4.1 SHSH. When updating to 4.2.1 you probably got a error 1013 which tiny umbrella cannot exit recovery after. A custom firmware is your only option now (or restoring to a stock 4.2.1 but that will update your baseband and you wont be able to unlock).

the thing is that if the phone was upgraded to 4.2.1 then is supposed to boot up normally or maybe i'm wrong? After restoring to 4.2.1 or any others they installing automatically right? so this mean that right now i have on the phone 4.2.1?

i tried custom restore but i have error 3194

It depends if you are getting a error when restoring to 4.2.1

You cannot restore to 4.1 since you don't have SHSH. no point in even trying without them.

i'm at work rigth now so i will run f0rcast later, and about 4.2.1 i just restored to... because it was stucked in dfu mode and nothing else help... i was able tu run just once for few minutes thru redsnow and i saw in settings that was 4.1 still 1.59 and after that i couldnt start at all so i restore with redsnow to 4.2.1

So if you have been to 4.2.1 and you have no shsh then you can not go to anything less than 4.2.1

But see what f0rcast says and then tell us exactly what you need and sombody will help you out

So i try to see what f0rcast will tell but with no luck the phone it's not discoverable by f0rcast other phone running ok so probably just beacause is on recovery mode forcast didnt see him? any advices?

ok so now i use Ireb+tinyumbrella(tss server)+custom 4.1 activated and everyting goes fine 95%.... checking for recovery config and and and and and restoring the config... and the phone is in dfu mode!!!!!!!!! F...K

So finally i was able to install custom 4.1 and only thing that i can do just tethere run for some reason and if i lock the phone it goes straith to dfu mode any ideas what to change on the phone when it's running tethered to make im reboot and become untethered how it is right now 4.1 1.59.00 without shsh?

If you stay on 4.1 without SHSH you will continue to have these issues. You need to go to 4.2.1 if you dont want to end up in dfu when you put the phone to sleep (do not use tiny umbrella during the restore). You will still have a tethered jailbreak but shouldnt have the dfu issues.

But now another question internet is full of custom ipsw so everybody who is forced to go for custom is forced to stay on tethered jb?
