ok so we all know cydias not perfect but ive never seen/heard of this before.
this morning i opened cydia and tried to update bitesms, it hanged whilst 'running debian packager'. i tried opening it again, let it refresh, and now i have no sources, nothing shows up in changes or packages or when i search.. my cydia is completely empty... i still have packages so i just need to know how to get my sources back (without typing them out again), what could it be? corrupt plist? any help is appreciated!!

I had the same problem recently. If a download was interrupted in Cydia, the sources and packages screens were blank when I reopened Cydia. I fixed it using method #2 from this thread (read post#20 on page 2):

For what it's worth I have been unable to get biteSMS to work after updating to 4.2.1 on my 3G. It worked on iOS4.1, however I've read that there are issues with mobile substrate on 4.2.1. irealsms through my phone into a continuous boot loop that necessitated restoring and rejailbreaking.
Don't know what os version you are on, but just some food for thought.

just to let you know bitesms has a beta for 4.2.1 i cant remember the repo but if you go to bitesms website and go to faq it is on there and it works. sorry i dont know about the missing repos.
