iPhone won't retrieve emails unless I open the Mail app

I am using a 3GS and my mail won't retrieve unless I open it (it never retrieves it automatically). I use gmail but it never gets it unless I click on the app.

Wrong section but check your settings and see if its set to push

It is on push. But say if you check your email and check your mail app. It downloads the email right there. It wont have it pre downloaded in the app. Why not?

I think that is just the way it works. It gives you the notification but you still need to download the message when you open it.

Or sometimes 6.15.00 doesn't push right... Deactivate and activate with legit sim...
