Spoofing Firmware Version?
I have an iPhone 4 on 4.1 that is unlocked and jailbroken. A new app has released that I need for the line of work I am involved in but it is for 4.2 and above only. Does anyone know of a way to make the app think my phone is running 4.2 so I can get around the requirement? I know the developers developed on 4.1 and that the app doesn't use any 4.2 specific features. Any help here would be appreciated.

There used to be a firmware spoofer in cydia but it was taken down, not sure if there is a way to do it anymore.

+1 on what x98car said and the reason being was that it was unstable and buggy.

Mods: Can I get a status update for solving my own thread? Just kidding. There is a different firmware spoofer in cydia if you add the following source: (you'll have to PM me if you want it, I've been censored) The source contains a tweak called Firmware Fake 4.2.1, which allows you to spoof the phone, iTunes, and any 4.2 dependent apps. Unstable? A little bit. You can switch back to 4.1 in the app after downloading the apps you want with no problem though. Well worth it!

Done...sorry...I only added the repo for that tweak. I wasn't aware of its other offerings
