You need to update the baseband to the ipad 6.15 using the latest redsn0w and unlock using ultrasn0w

Ok, so IF I do that are there any risks? I didn't know that there was an unlock for 4.2.1!! That is great!
Is there a guide you know of that can show me step by step?
Also, if it breaks and I take it to the Apple store, will they replace it?
Will it be unlocked for ANY carrier?
Will it be tethered?Last edited by iFoxyLady; 01-02-2011 at 09:45 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Awesome! So I am a n00b with all this....What does custom Firmware mean...What will this mean for me in the future?

Custom firmwares are made by the jailbreak tools like Sn0wbreez and pwnage tool. They make firmware without it effecting your baseband, So when a new firmware comes out you will have to wait for one of these to be released before you can update. But 4.2.1 should keep you good for a long while ( good year and half)

Tethered means that when you turn your phone off or you have to reboot, you will need to connect it to your PC and run redsn0w and check boot tethered, other wise it will not boot up, But this is likly to change in the next couple of weeks

Firmware .4.0,4.1,4.0.1, ect ect.
Tethered is meaning every time you phone boots turns on/off you have to plug it in to a mac/pc and reboot it using redsn0w

@ pratt1503
Ok...Wonderful! Now is it true that this process could damage or break the GPS?
@ Westerman
Does that include when you lock the home scre4en or just when the phone is powered off?
