Cydia update is it necessary (PART 2) Contd

Yowzaaaa People,
Please see my previous post(yesterday)as above,
I have 3.1.3 and would like to upgrade to 4.1 or whatever is the latest at the moment, However, being a newbie I am unsure how to go about upgrading to 4.1.OR 4.12. Is there a simple way of doing it? I have researched this site and it all looks rather complex !!!
And finally please could someone explain what SSH IS or does.

Your SHSH are what you need to go to any firmwear that apple are not signing, Currently apple only sign 4.2.1 (the newest one)

It not hard to go to 4.1 but you can only do this if you SHSH on file with Cydia. So you need to answer a few question so we can help you do what you want.

1. Have you ever jailbroken a phone or has your phone ever been jailbroken ?
2. Download the latest Tiny Umberella and conect your phone and click save my ShSh and let us know what it says.
3. Do you need to be unlocked ?
4. What operating system are you using i.e Windows or Apple mac.

Give us this information and anything else you think we might need to know and we will be happy to help you out

I'm away from home till next week, so I'll get my act together then,
(1)I have jailbroken my phone, OR should I say I had it done for me, I have no idea how OR by what method was used.
