Cydia upgrade IS it Necessary ?

You can go ahead and update those with out having to update your firmware

shsh or blobs are firmware you have saved as back ups.

Apple stops signing firmware a week or two usually after they release a new one so if you have them saved in cydia which should do it automatically it will allow you to jump firmware to firmware and bypass apples check.

When I hit 'Upgrade Essential' OR 'Complete upgtade' I see on-screen
''One or more essential packages are currently out of date. If these upgradAes are not performed you are likely to encounter errors''

WHEN I confirm this operation I am taken to another screen in which to confim, ( I do) However the screen is showing (Disk using 0.0 B) when I confirm this action it advises 'Loading changes' and takes me back too.

Honestly i wouldn't worry about they are probably for later firmwares. If everything is working and you like things the way they are then don't touch or worry about it.

Hi, And thank you for taking the time to assist me in resloving my problem, I finally noticed that my phone VIA (Cydia) is advising me to upgrade to firmware 4.
Any suggestions.

I would just wait for the latest redsn0w to be untethered its in the beta process give it another week or so and watch the home page on here and you will get all the info you need to upgrade and jailbreak
