Problem with sending SMS on iPhone 4

Ok, I noticed this problem reecently.

Basically, I can send and recieve messages fine using the conversation view, but as soon as I hit "New Message" things start going pear shaped. Say I wanted to txt "Mum" pressing M doesn't drop down the list of contacts starting with M. Then after I go through and find her, type out my message, nothing happens when I press send. I can respring using sbsettings and it works, but only once. So I could send a new message to mum, but would then have to respring to send dad a new message!

I have tried both the stock SMS app AND biteSMS. Also, I have tried to send a message going from contacts and selecting their number.

Any help would be appreciated.

Is there any way to put my phon into safe mode so I can see if is an app which is causing this issue?

If you have Sbsettings just open it press power and press safe mode.

Telecom NZ, and no the phone was factory unlocked.

I went into safe mode and it worked fine, so I took a guess and uninstalled HideEmAll. It now works fine!
