iPhone 4 or iTunes 10 on OSX Tiger?

Hey Everybody!

So just went and got myself a new iphone 4 today and to my surprise, my power mac G5 PPC on 10.4 wouldn't recognise it. Quick google: itunes 10 not available for anything lower than 10.5, therefore no iphone on my $4,500 computer (a few years ago, $8,000 replacement if I got the modern day equivalent)

My wife uses this computer everyday to edit film (final cut) and it works a treat, so its hard to justify buying a new computer to suit my new phone.

All google searches came back with were solutions for non jailbroken phones. As soon as the geniuses (no sarcasm) release the new jailbreak, I will figure out some way of getting cydia.

I searched within the forums for "tiger" and "iphone4 on 10.4" and couldn't find anything relevant.

If anyone has any suggestions (apart from buying the $30 upgrade from mac), I would be very appreciative.

im not very knowledgable with mac os but it is possible that the new iTunes only works with 10.5.. have you read the requirements on the apple site? iphone4 needs itunes 10 so you cant downgrade itunes either..
surely £30 isnt that much to get your phone working?

It's not, but it's a physical disc. I'm very impatient and snail mail doesn't help! I've since found out that the $30 is no longer available, it's $129.

It's been ordered and in the mean time I dug up my old xp machine to get er going.

To the OP, 10.5 is unfortunately the only route. Its a decent upgrade, so its not a complete waste.
