Whats the best OS for a 3G ? Going to JB and unlock my older 3G iPhone........

You have to have your blobs already save using tinyumbrella or it wont work and you will just get an error after error.

Just stay on 4.2.1 on a 3G (or go to 3.1.3). No sense going to 4.1. If you want to unlock you will have to use redsnow to update your baseband to the iPad one.

But if he was wanting to go to 4.1 don't blobs need to be saved?

Yes, if he wants to go to 4.1 SHSH is needed for every device.

sorry i was unaware of that
i do suggest that anyone with a 3g stays on 3.x though... it really takes away a large amount of usability going to 4.x.. at least from my experience with it anyway

ok thnks guys! so i'll just downgrade to 3.1 os since it seems to wrk better on a 3g iphone. Now do I just type in google how to downgrade iphone 3g from 4.2.1os to 3.1, download it and restore using alt.option button on mac, and then use tinyumbrella to to get out of recovery mode. then download redsnow to unlock my phone? also does redsnow unlock and jailbreak? i just want to make sure im doing all of this the right way. this is m first time.

redsn0w jailbreaks then in cydia download ultrasn0w to unlock the phone.
