Default please help - unlock a phone from a friend passed

I'm checking the internet but as I really can't afford to mess this up I also really need some expert advice. A friend passed away and his iphone has the lock on. His parents want to assess the phone to get the pictures. They do not care about the phone, the pictures are the most importance thing.

He recently changed the pass code so I do not know if he plugged the phone into his computer as i just checked with plugging my own iphone into a computer where its not been used with and if I plug it in unlocked and then re-plug the phone in again even if its locked it will still allow me to access the pictures but only if the phone was plugged in unlocked first. I think his phone will be up to date so can't use the other exploit to get round the passcode. Many thanks to everyone posting a reply and merry christmas!

Do you know if the phone was jailbroken?
Use f0recast to see what firmware the phone is on.

No it wasn't jailbroken, would be good if I try it through the back ups even that are stored on his computer....cause I'm kinda scared that if I mess it up it would be such a disaster and I think his mum has been through enough really

Ya, you may be able to get them from the backups. You can use a program like iphone backup extractor or juicephone.

    Hi

Have you tried getting ifunbox and connecting the phone and that way you should be able to get the photos off and have nothing to do with iTunes.

I have just put a lock on my phone and tried to connect with ifunbox without taking the lock off and it still allowed me to navigate into the phone and photos, But not sure if its because my phone has been conected before. But it has to be worth a try.

Also not sure if ifunbox works on none jailbroken iphones ??

I would just make sure that sync when phone is connected is not checked in iTunes and close iTunes down straight away.

Hope this works for you pal and good luck
