Default Do you use a screen protector?

I would like to do this as a poll but I don't know how. I am just trying to find out from those that DO NOT use a screen protector is "have you scratched your screen". I have always used one from my first 2g to my 3gs but gotta tell ya, everytime I see one without I am bummed by how much clearer and bright thier screen is. I am getting the wife a 4G for christmas and am trying to decide rather to put a screen protector on it.

I personally do not use a case or a screen protector. If it gets a bad scratch i just trade it in with apple lol. You have a year warranty so why not right lol. But with my iphone 4 i dont have one scratch on the screen and i have had the phone for 7 months now. Just be careful and dont throw the phone in a pocket with loose change or keys and you will be fine.

I do not use a screen protector as well. I do use a case but the iP4 screen is waaaaay to nice to blur up with a screen protector. Like he said... No change or keys and it'll be fine. Had my iP4 6 months without and it looks perfect.

I'm too paranoid not to use a protector/case. I've had a screen protector and case since my 3G up to my current iPhone 4. I recently bought a cool vinyl skin for my i4 though, so I use that to protect the back/sides and just a regular screen protector for the screen.

@Westerman - do Apple replace iDevices easily if they just have a scratch? I didn't think the manufacturer warrenty covered cosmetic wear and tear.

Same with me, no screen protector, or cover. I like the naked look n feel.

    1. To avoid scratches you have to be really anal about putting it in ur pocket with nothing else. (maybe only a leather wallet)

    2. Don't slide/ drag the phone across any table/desk top or surface. Lift it up to rotate it or move it the 5cm or so. Any sand, grit, salt, etc on the table will produce scratches, on both the front or back surfaces.

    3. Also beware the front and back surfaces are very very slippery. My gf stacked my i4 on top of her nokia on a bar table on a slight slope and my i4 slid ever so slowly off hers n landed on the tiled floor 1.5m below. No shatter, but the metal frame had scratches/ dints on 5 of the corners (of the 8).

My i3G lasted 2 years without a scratched screen, and only 2 scratched corners when I dropped it twice.

It's possible, but you have to be thoughtful 100% of the time. Even at 4am in the pub when the world is spinning.

EDIT: just noticed the new iPhone is for your wife. If she puts it naked in her handbag= game over = will get scratched. Unless it's in a bag thing, or has cover & protector. Or same as above if she pockets it.

I use a screen protector. Found one really cheap and is crystal clear and feel is smooth as a baby's bum

I do this for all my iPhones. My iPod touch however I don't really care about it so I never put one on. The screen has light scratches but the scratches are there. Just minor hairline scratches though.

For my iPhone 4, the screen protector I am using it is really fantastic. Just as clear on my retina display as any other iP4 without

If you're interested/paranoid like I am lol, it's on Amazon called Xtremeguard for $3 with free shipping. Seriously, the poor reviews are just people who can't apply a screen protector, I haven't had a problem with it.

screen protector ruins the point of an iphone 4 retina display. Case is fine but trust me you wont get scratches on your iphone 4 screen unless you are stupid.

Indeed. It just feels more natural that way. Cases and protectors just take away from the feeling of your device.

I have never used one and i have yet to see a phone that looks good with one on, and i too have had 2G,3G,3GS and not the IP4.

I find that phones i have used with them on are less responsive.
