is it ok to update/upgrade cydia changes even if......

hey all im wondering if its ok to update/upgrade cydia packages even if the update is for a more current version of the iOS? in other words i have a 3gs with 4.0.1 and i have upgrade for folder enhancer waiting yet its for fixes/changes for 4.2.1 even though im not on that is it safe to upgrade? will it make a difference?


i guess the real question is should i upgrade/update everytime every package to the newest version? is there any harm in that?

Normally it is safe to update, but I wouldnt say a update never broke anything.

that gave you an option to upgrade because it was necessary for the package you were running. that being the case how would i choose not to update and have the badge removed. my only options to modify are upgrade remove cancel.

Cydia knows what operating system you have and would not give you the update if it would cause you problems

if you think about it another way ! if you did not have folder enhancer and you bought it today it would be the NEW version that works on 4.2.1 but would still work on your firmwear.

So you SHOULD be fine to update and updates that Cydia provide for you
