Probably everyone who hasn't upgraded. I haven't upgraded to 4.2.1, I very well can. Hell, I'd like to say I even help people out
I just don't because I like untethered jailbreaks is all. I'd rather wait, I like to let my phone run out of battery completely so definitely won't like the tetheredness.
It's not being wimpy for some people, it's practical. For noobs, it's essential they figure everything out before attempting. Don't be so quick to call other people names just because you want to pat yourself on the back...

I only upgrade when my favorite apps require an update that asks for a higher firmware. I think those days are over though since it would now mean a tethered jailbreak.

Why ?? Vodafone,o2 and Orange all offer the unlock sevice for around £10 even free if you have been with them around 3 months?
As for the update, i could not agree more that you need to do a lot of reading before you go for it but if we all just stuck with what we had because it worked well we would all be still on 2G at 1.0.
So my advise is let the people that just CAN'T wait to update read the stories wait for them to be fixed read some more and keep reading untill all good then go for it

iOS 4 rocks on my iPhone 4.
If iOS 4 gives you trouble, you probably have the iPhone 3G which then yes it does suck. But you should probably upgrade some time lol, the 3G is slowly becoming like the 2G, old and slow. Still good phones though, just not keeping up with today's newer firmwares.

I don't know why you're being obnoxiously offended. That's just my opinion. I don't know why Apple is still trying to update it, eventually it's going to become dated whether it is now or later.
So why is 3.1.x still the most optimized for an iPhone 3G and iOS 4 still is a bit laggy/buggy? The hardware is hardly handling it, and for future updates whether it's a near future or farther future thing, the hardware is eventually not going to be able to handle it just like the iPhone 2G isn't able to upgrade to iOS 4 now.

I'm only going to 4.2 when the untethered comes out, I like the new things, but it's not worth a tether. Most of the time I just update Cydia apps cause I dont wanna see the little 1 over the Cydia icon

Me too (and by the look it will be before x mas
)but teathered sucks so i will stay at 4.1.
I dont think they are talking about Cydia apps i think they are on about Cydia itself before its released by Saurick.
But i have done minr and i am running cydia_1.0.3366.7 and it's perfect and a lot faster

because of "Security threats" as a society we have been hood winked into "Always updating to protect ourselves, Protect from what? Most of the updates are for such minor exploits as to the conditions that its an excuse for the software writers to throw in other code with the purpose to catch unauthorized copies of the software, or to add in an expiration bomb to the older software. Automatic updates are evil IMHO, if left on your product will update and have the potential to be useless if the new update is not compatible with your system or a expiry bomb is now put into place because you are using an old version. I was using an old copy of a program from 2001, it was working, somehow an update came over the internet and the program said "there is a new version of this software, you must update to continue using" The functionality closed down, I then tried to update it and found out it was an extra 39.95 to update since it was such an old version I was using. Understand it worked before. There was no such limitation in the agreement in 2001, but does our software have such a limitation now? can a company render software useless after a use period of time? Hmm Interesting to see huh?
I hate updates until I know what they are for and will do

Hey c'mon guys the idea behind the start of this thread was simply to encourage people to do a little research, for those that rely on a jailbreak and unlock, before jumping in head first with the update.
Correct me if I'm wrong but even the good Dr Freeman himself has posted warnings all over Cydia highlighting much the same thing.
