I am buying an IP4 tomo and looking to mod it st8 away. Complete noob to iphone/apple so will be interesting to see how thinsg work out. After reading a couple of thread i know i am def in the right place to start with!!
So in the meantime what would you guys suggest that I need?
ifunbox on your pc (it allows you to view your phones file system (/root)) to use it make sure you have "afc2add" from cydia
sbsettings allows you to swipe the statusbar from left to right in order to open a swish little drop down menu containing toggles of your choice like wifi toggle, free memory etc. (see screenshot)
winterboard allows theming.
bite-sms best app ever! it allows you to instantly reply to texts from in any app, at lockscreen ANYWHERE!
iFile is basically an iphine version of ifunbox i told you about earlier, very neat little app, definatly worth it if you enjoy fiddling around/ tweaking stuff!

oh and of course the modmyi app available free off the appstore! lol
this is a pic of the sbsettings dropdown, with various toggles on, basically instead of having to go into the settings app when you want to change something

First thing to do of all is use tinyumbrella to save your SHSH. With rumors of 4.3 about to drop sometime soon you will want to get your 4.2.1 shsh saved.
Sweet, cheers bros I appreciate the helps. Do you know when 4.3 is going to drop? I was under the impression that 4.2.1 only just arrived?
When it comes to jailbreaking it - where should i start? Do you guys think its a better idea to get used to the phone b4 JB it? or just jump st8 in? I dont want to brick it as paying for it 100% up front. Also if I do JB and have issues with it - is it true that i can restore take to an apple store and they'll be none the wiser and look at it properly (if anything were ever to go wrong)
A restore of normal firmware will bring it back to original state. But Apple does have a way of looking deeper to see if it was ever jailbroken but they have yet to call someone out on it that I have heard.
No idea on 4.3 it is just a rumor about a december release so far. But for sure don't take the chance and save the 4.2.1 shsh.
