Default How to re-upgrade to 4.2.1

I had to restore due to a mistake I made. I tried to restore back to 4.2.1 but, that is not possible due to TU not being able to kick it out of recovery. I restored to 4.1 and all is good. But, I like some of the 4.2.1 things better. This just came to me a few minutes ago and probably could of avoided some probs. anyway, If I custom restored to 4.2.1 and it never comes out of recovery mode...can I jailbreak (rednsnow)while it is still in recovery and point it towards 4.1 so I can take it out of recovery when the process is done?

TU is not letting iTunes update your baseband and 4.2.1 won't work without the newest bb. If you don't need an unlock, delete TU's mark on your iTunes host files and then upgrade to 4.2.1.

Unfortunately, I depend on unlock. It looks like I'll need a Mac for custom 4.2.1 FW or wait for a custom 4.2.1 PC FW. Does that sound about right?

I might be missing something, but it seems that you could just do a normal update in iTunes and then jailbreak with redsn0w

Got it figured out. So easy . Instead of hitting shift restore you have to hit shift upgrade and then do everything else normal! Somebody might want to keep this thread on top. after searching all over I finally found (to me) the holy grail of different fixes for just about every combination of phones and firmwares. He has it on a spreadsheet and you just find your phone and FW. Then just follow the chart for the proper fix.

About half way down on this page is a link to his upgrade doc.
