Strange Problem !!!!!

Guys I got 3.1.2 blackrained 3gs with new botrom.

With Past few days I am encountering a very strange problem.
Whenever I lock the screen Its still active. That is in the dark room I can still see very dim light emitting from my screen.

Even the volume/vibrator symbol is clearly visible even when the screen is locked.

The result is very low battery backup with a drop of around 30-40% per 5 hours.

Guys please help me out . I dont want to upgrade or restore as I am too chicken to do so. Please help me guys Its quite frustrating.

Hmmm... I have never seen this before. Something may be wrong with your backlight. You have tried rebooting right?

I don't know if a restore could fix a hardware problem...
You could take it to apple

Yeah I tried rebooting several times. So there is no way out ?

Try a restore, and if that doesn't work, take it to apple

Hey guys just wanted to confirm the problem got fixed with restoring and updating to 4.0.1 .
This was the first time I restored a phone. It was too exciting and thrilling experience fr me.
I think the culprit behind the prob was insomania.
