Red face Gave my 3G's back a brushed finish

Hi everyone, new to the forum... thought I would post what I did to my iPhone 3G. The back was pretty scratched up so I decided to take it a step or two further and sand it down to a brushed finish.

I threw together a quick guide on how I did it... I'm no master but I think it turned out pretty sweet.

How to give your iPhone a brushed finish.

What do you think? Also since the 4.2.1 update it's been flying for a 3G, have no reason to upgrade at the moment.

Just a tip, I did this today with my 3G to the back and chrome bezel. I used the rough side of a sponge, and I didn't disassemble my iPhone. Just make sure you put electrical tape on the screen, camera lens, and ports to protect from scratches and dust. It comes out pretty close. Make sure you "sand" in one direction.

Wow, that actually looks very sleek!

I did a brush 'metal' look on the bezel ring of the iPhone. Since I always thought the chrome made it look cheap and ugly. So I did it on my 3G, liked how it looked, and took a deep breath and went ahead and did it on the 3G[S].

Thanks for the idea, if my 3G[S] ever gets pretty scratched up, I'll probably do this as a last resort. (Currently my 1+ year old Invisible Shield is still holding up)
