help, jailbroke 3gs on 4 5.14.2, now stuck on reboot
i used limera!n to jailbreak my 3gs (4.1 5.14.02). All worked well until i stpidly did the reset data, settings, option. AFter the phone cleared its data, it got stuck on the reboot logo. Its been there for hours now. I realized that i have to restore and upgrade the firmware through itunes at this point, but I read online that because I did "make my life easier" option in cydia, my SHSH blobs were saved. Now I would like to get my phone back to 4.1 5.14.2 baseband, and jailbreak, but i dont have an option besides restoring through itunes, which will force an upgrade, thus losing my baseband as well. Am I missing any other options to get my phone back to 4.1 and 5.14.2 baseband? Of note, i cant use rograms like ifunbox to read my phone as it wont get picked up through the USB cable.

Use tiny umbrella to find out what SHSH you have first

Open cydia homepage and it should tell you at the top what SHSH save Cydia has for your iPhone, if you've never done it then it won't exist

Use this to find your ecid: iClarified - iPhone - How to Find Your iPhone ECID [Windows]
You will then put that ecid manually into tiny umbrella and then press save SHSH to see what you get.Last edited by Simon; 12-05-2010 at 06:03 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

That means you can only restore to 4.2.1.

Download idetector to find out what bootrom you have. This will determine if you will have a tethered or untethered jailbreak on 4.2.1.

Ok I'll do that. It weird because I never downloaded or installed 4.2 in any way.

It doesnt matter tiny umbrella can save SHSH for firmware that you are not on. As long as apple is still signing it or they are saved in cydia.

Meaning okay you were once on 4.1 but since you didn't back up your SHSH you can't restore to that same firmware sry

it says have the old bootrom, which is surprising, because I always thought I had the new one, as I associated New bootrom with baseband 5.14.02, but i guess bootrom and baseband are totally different things?
Should I just restore and upgrade to 4.2 and then I can jailbreak through limera1n? this should leave me with an untethered jailbroken phone correct? i guess this is better than just a jailbroken 4.1 phone as Im not looking to unlock at this time

Yup, baseband and bootrom are two different things. Just restore to 4.2.1 then use redsnow 0.9.6b6 to jailbreak. Limera1n wont work on 4.2.1
