Default backup iPhone 3G before upgrade

Is there any way I can I backup my complete iPhone 3G before doing any upgrade and have the ability to restore back if there are any issues?

    Thanks

Back it up to itunes, then install pkgbckup back up in cydia run it so that way when you jailbreak you will always be able to get your packages back by just reinstall pkgbckup. Run tiny umbrella to make sure your blobs are saved just incase you havent already done that. Now you should be good to go.

I haven't used tiny umbrella, but will download that and the backup tool in cydia

    Thanks for the help

I was able to find tiny umbrella for windows so I will give that a try. Is it hard to use?

I did not know that there was a fee for pkgbackup so I will probably have to wait until after the holidays on that one

    Thanks
