iPhone 4 thinks headphones are plugged in!

My iPhone 4 4.1 JB w/ Limera1n that has been fine for the lasts 2 months thinks that the ear buds are plugged in all the time. Obviously this is a total pain as I can't make calls without them plugged in.

I've tried plugging in and unplugging the ear buds a number of times but it has not made a difference.

Has anyone else had this problem? Did it turn out to be a software problem or hardware?

I have seen this issue and it was a hardware one. I had to clean out the headphone jack. Dirt had got caught on the sensor making the phone think headphones were in.

What did you use to clean the jack?

A cue tip and rubbing alcohol i believe, just a little though. Try to see inside to see if you can see anything in there first.

Hi all,

I know this has been discussed at length and answers generally involve sucking and blowing inserting 50+ times...

I've tried all of these and eventually (as the volume up button wasn't working) replace the headphone jack buttons now works but STILL the phone is stuck in headphone mode and I can't hear any phone calls without putting the loud speaker on.

Its a iPhone 4, Running 5.1.1 (FW04.12.01) JB.

Any help would be great, I've just reformatted, upgraded and re JB but still stuck
