Default WiFi dropped so does BlueTooth ???

    Hello everyone,

    I have 3gs 4.1 FW 04.26.08 BB unlocked using ultrasn0w...

I don't know what happened but the WiFi (e.g. in Settings+General) is grayed out. I turn on bluetooth and it searches then turn itself off then back to search again and again in a loop. So, bluetooth is also not working.

Has anyone experience this similar circumstance like me? Do I need to jailbreak/unlock again? Is there a fix without having to jailbreak. Otherwise I have to learn how to jailbreak/unlock because I did not JB it myself.

Desperately needing Wi-Fi and Bluetooth back...

    Thanks in advance everyone.

I'm not quite sure about a fix to this; I think your safest bet would be to rejailbreak.

If you have a Mac, then just create a custom 4.1 firmware with PwnageTool. Shift+restore to it in iTunes after Pwnage puts your phone into its custom DFU mode.

If you do not have a Mac, then you'll have to find online a custom 4.1 firmware that was created by PwnageTool (make sure you get it from a trustworthy source!). Then use redsn0w 0.9.6 b2 to put your iPhone into the custom DFU mode; then shift+click on restore in iTunes and select the custom PwnageTool 4.1 firmware that you downloaded.

Hopefully, if it is just a software issue and not hardware, then all should be well afterward.

Thank you for being first to reply...

I will wait for ultrasn0w by this Sunday then attempt at this JB which I'm all new to.

I'm new to the term hactivate. How do I know whether to hactivate or not. You see, this fone was once activated on T-Mobile. I'm on AT&T and this is my first iPhone.

So do I need to hactivate after JB? If so, then is there specific instructions to do so?

Thank you in advance for helping me on this learning path...

It's no problem at all. We all start somewhere.

Since you are on AT&T, you don't have to worry about hacktivating at all! Since you are an AT&T customer and you have your AT&T SIM, all you have to do is insert that SIM when prompted (just like the normal directions) and you will activate the phone. No worrying about hacktivating and the potential issues that may come with it.

I am back tracking...erasing previous reply.

I am overwhelmed from reading lately and with the new release from MuscleNerd and all the 4.2.1 JB/Unlock. So, I want to take one step at a time.

I have a 3GS 4.1 iOS 04.26.08 BB. I really don't know how it was JB and Unlocked and still retained the old BB version. This I would like to understand and know how it was done.

Also, my phone does have an old bootrom (e.g. 3rd s/n is a 9 and 4th-5th is under 40).

You said, "Since you are on AT&T, you don't have to worry about hacktivating at all..." I understand this as I can use iTunes to restore (e.g. regular and not DFU method) a any .ipsw. I am curious if I can restore an earlier version of .ipsw than current 4.1? If so, what will happen? If not, what error will I encounter.

Let's say I want to go to 4.2.1. So all I have to do is restore (e.g. regular not DFU) in iTunes to a stock 4.2.1 .ipsw then activate via iTunes regularly and not mess with hactivate. Am I correct here. This does sound simple and I'm saying to myself that I'm misunderstanding here.

Is it possible to go to 4.2.1 and still retain 04.26.08 BB that is currently in my phone? Am I misunderstanding here also?

I'm asking these questions so I don't brick my phone and scream for immediate help...I would like to understand before I go alone.

Thank you for all your help. I am almost getting all this JB/Unlock. I am to be able to consider myself a JailBreaker and/or Unlocker...hehehe
