Stuck in the loop. Another story, another problem. Please help me!
I know you guys see these a lot, and I have searched in and out of Google for help. I'm a data nut, and I HAVE to have my data recovered. Here's my story, and I hope you guys can help me out here:
I downloaded three updates, one being MusicControls. From there it asked me to reboot however my phone didn't. I had to hard reset it, and now it's looping.
I managed to access the root folder via SSH and tried various methods like deleting MyWi and My3G all to no avail (since they were the other things I downloaded). I tried to edit the apple.springboard.plist, but that wouldn't work.
At the time I didn't KNOW that MusicControl's update was the culprit. Once I found out, I immediately tried to SSH.
Now for some strange reason, I left the phone alone to run an errand and I lost the WIFI connection. I went into my router's page to see if the phone was still connected to it, but it wasn't. I don't know how it got disconnected, but it did. It may have been that I restarted my router and modem since the internet was acting up. Now I can't get a connection with WinSCP.
Is there anyway I can connect my iPhone 4 back into the router that way I can SSH into it once again?
Once again, I would restore, but that's a VERY big no for me. I know there should be a way to get it working again. Especially since I had access to the root folder.
iPhone 4 32GB Black, iOS 4.0.1, Jailbroken with Jailbreakme.

Do you not have a recent backup in iTunes?

I forgot to say that. Yes, I do. Perfect timing, too. Did it the night before the tragedy. I know I'm fortunate to have THAT.
I have my SHSH's backed up. 4.0 - 4.2. So a restore will NOT be a problem.
I'm talking about Cydia data, I put in a couple of pictures in another folder with iFile, and notes via SBSettings that are important to me.
I usually get the SBSetting notes and put them in my Notes.app, but I guess I forgot that day, and now realizing that those notes ARE important, I'm going crazier than ever.

Have you tried using a USB file explored like diskaid or iPhone browser?

That won't work. My iPhone isn't recognized by the computer. I've tried WinSCP and Total Commander w/Putty. I've also tried iPhone Browser, iFunbox, and DiskAid but they don't recognize my phone. They don't see it.
I initially did have access via SSH, but since I didn't know what the problem was until later, I didn't delete Music Controls. I found out AFTER the connection was gone.
I had to reset my modem and router. :-\
Keep the suggestions coming. You give me hope, and I really do appreciate it!
Oh, I'm sorry, I've tried getting kicked of recovery with TinyUmbrella, rejailbreaking with LimeRa1n, but they didn't work.
I guess at this point, I'm not looking for additional software that can get me in, I'm looking to connect my iPhone back into my router so I can finally delete that app.

Ya without being able to ssh in then you may be stuck. Some jailbreak stuff does get saved in your backup though. Not sure if the stuff you want would be there though.

Yeah, I know that AppData gets backed up, and since I have Pkg Backup, that gets backed up too. So I don't have to worry about those.
But damn, there HAS to be a way for me to connect my iPhone back into my router.
I thought about SSH'ing via 3G, and I also thought about going to another previous WiFi spot, like my mom's, to automatically issue a wifi address.
So I went looking for a better way to clarify this, and I guess the problem is that my DCHP client list doesn't show my iPhone on there.
I used to before I reset the modem and router. The phone needs to be on my DCHP list in order for me to proceed...Last edited by latinodancer15; 11-26-2010 at 06:31 AM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Mostly iPhone hacking: Working iPhone recovery ramdisk with SSH ;-)
This is supposed to work ... and I'll bet dollars to donuts it does. I screwed up my perfectly working 3GS and worked 2 days trying. Maybe next year Ill have the patience and internal knowledge .... not today. In the end, I had to bite the bullet and restore. There IS a way, I'm sure of it ... it's just way too complicated for us noobs

I got stuck in a boot loop once, after a big scare and about 5 hard resets it luckily booted into safe mode. probably doesn't help but worth a try.

Worth a try. Mine was stuck at the Apple logo for two solid days. Couldn't even enter recovery mode, and required iRec to get into DFU mode.
I hope your experience is better than mine

Yeah, it's been two days for me. It's funny when you feel naked without out the phone.
I'll try out that link dude. Thanks!
Wow, just checked out. Way to difficult. By I managed to make a disk image of my 3Gs before, but would that make an image of the entire phone? Including my Cydia app data?
Hopefully it'll be easy to find, because when you make that image, everything is everywhere and hard to find!

How did you make the image, iTunes, Ugg. If rsync, the files are located in the same logical place where they were from the iPhone. So while they are everywhere, their original location is easy to know. And the most important is: /private/var/mobile/Library/*

I don't even remember. I did it last year. I used mobile terminal, and ssh'ing; executing commands like : dd if=/dev/rdisk0 bs=1M | ssh username@Computer’sIPaddress ‘dd of=iphone-dump.img’
I did it just to recover a DELETED picture. It was nothing huge. My iPhone 3GS at the time had no problems. I was able to make calls, and everything.
This is a different story though, Lol. This looks very complicated, and I'm not trying to recover deleted data, which is awesome. Since I'm desperate, I will do it. I'll learn a thing or two along the way.
Have you ever done this?
Edit: Sorry, so the page you gave me only does a "iTunes-esque" backup? Meaning does it just backup the photos, notes, sms, or does it backup the ENTIRE phone. Like Safari Downloads (not that I want those), etc?
Oh yeah, what's UGG?Last edited by latinodancer15; 11-26-2010 at 09:05 PM.

Rsync (via Cydia) is excellent for backups especially with a Mac. It works ok on Win with some added helper programs.
So u used dd. Ugg. As image backup it's good, but difficult to extract anything. Extracting the dd image to a separate filesystem (like a flash drive) should do the trick.
Ugg: a very old slang word used when dissappointed, confused, or having few options
It's still a bit over my head, but according to the author, that page details how to install ssh on the iPhone as a ramdisk where you log-in from a computer and have full access.Last edited by Mes; 11-26-2010 at 10:08 PM. Reason: Automerged Doublepost

Google search 'man dd', and brush up on the many options.
For most cases, a simple invert of the 'if' (input filesystem) and 'of' (output filesystem) options works. Make sure you select the correct 'of' filesystem to write, or else ugggg (hehe

Thanks for your help. Even though I'm still a bit confused. I'm tech-saavy, but when it comes to commands like these, it just throws me all over the place.

I hear you
. The options can go on forever
but provided unlimited and powerful use.
I can't remember how many *nix systems I've messed up. And with *nix and terminal/ssh, there NO warnings.
