Closing out an app completely
is there any way to completely close out an app when pressing the home button, i.e. it doesnt remain open in multitasking bar?
for example, id like the phone app and mail app and sms apps to all close completely after i have read my message or finished my call, rather than staying open and hogging memory?
Possible?

Ztoggle only disables multitasking, you can't stop individual ones.
Your best bet is to disable multitasking (manually) and then download backgrounder from cydia, it allows you to choose what apps should be killed upon exit

System/library/CoreServices/springboard.app and look for an n72ap.plist or n88ap (depends what device you have) go into and look for the string which says multitasking, underneath it there will be a true key, just change it to false and Respring

Right, i think I have it set up nicely, but, all the apps i still show in the multi tasking bar which is what is what I want to avoid.
When I look at process in SBS it shows that they ain't running but they still show in MT bar?
Any ideas please?

Aahh sorry backgrounder only does the backgrounding, you need to use one of the apps on cydia which adds an interface, I can't for the life of me remember the name of one though :/ I'll have a look

Have you configured backgrounder? Go to settings app and scroll down till you see your jailbreak apps. Then in backgrounder you can set a white list (apps allowed to background) and a black list (contains apps which can't) then you should be all set.
P.s I havnt used either of these apps in ages so they might have new features or work differently so you might just have to do some trial and error

right i think im almost there!
Using a combination of backgrounder, multiflow and MultiCleaner i have it pretty much how id like, but there is one more thing!? :-S
When i close an app via multi flow it still stays in the Multitasking bar.
Can this be changed so that apps closed in multiflow will close in the multitasking bar?

If you disabled multitasking how I showed you, the multitask bar shouldn't be there..

You can just use MultiCleaner from Cydia instead of this, i have it set up so when i press and hold the status bar, it quits all apps except mail and ipod. you can also set it to do single apps
