Iphone w/ no sim...

I bought an iphone 3g and was planning to just use it as an ipod. But it doesnt have a sim card and it is stuck on the screen that says "no SIM card installed, insert valid SIM...". Ive read that theres ways around this, but not sure what to do. Can someone maybe point me in the right direction? Dont know what to do.

You can use redsn0w to activate it. You just need to determine what firmware it is on so you know which version of redsnow to use.

Download f0recast from here:http://ih8sn0w.com/index.php/product.../f0recast.snow and run it with your phone connected. It can tell you what firmware it has on it then we can determine what version of redsnow to use.

another question... i ran redsn0w and it tells me "unable to recognize specified IPSW".. I dont know what im doing wrong, and ideas?

Did you determine what firmware you are on?

and i used redsn0w 9.6

Just confirm you have redsn0w 0.9.6b2 and also post what the filename of the firmware is that you are pointing redsnow to.
