Default iPhone 3.5 to RCA problems....

I am hooking up my iPhone to my car stereo from a 3.5 to RCA (it is rare i know)however, unless i turn down the volume on my stereo, my GPS apps voice gets distorted. Would it be better to use a connnection that uses the dock connector to RCA? also, when i try to use the Voice Control, you can barely hear the iPhone computerized voice speaking through my speakers...is there a way to fix that?

I use the 3.5 to 3.5 when I connect to my car and works fine when playing music and using tomtom, however using it for calls doesn't work well!

Same in the house music and ring tone/msg tone works fine 3.5 to RCA through my surround sound unit but again calks doesn't work well.

I think it may be down to the phone being too close to the speakers

I think unless ur system supports these functions it will not work well. Playing audio is fine but not for communication interactive purposes.
