Slide to Power Off Problem
The slide to power off screen keeps popping up randomly (even from standby) and the power button doesn't always work. At one point the screen started flashing like a disco.
It's a 3GS.
Any ideas what could be wrong? I've restored it and its just the same. I was thinking the power button could be replaced - maybe it's sticking?

Sounds like a defective power button.

Could be the power button, but I had this problem with the battery on a 3G I fixed for a friend.

Left it in a bag of rice overnight as I'd been running with it. 24hrs later it's back to normal. Not sure it was the moisture. Will just wait for reoccurrence.

The phone was heating up a lot and it would flicker power randomly.

Yeah, if it starts to act weird you can PM me and we can do a couple tests on it.
