3gs wont restore, stuck on apple logo and TU wont recognize

Hi,

my phone got stuck on apple logo yesterday while trying to jailbreak. its a 3gs, MC model, 4.0 OS....my husband did save the shsh for it yesterday on tiny umbrella (i'm not sure if saving shsh for 4.0 is possible but we tried and TU says blob saved)

today we'rw trying to restore the phone using tinyumbrella I saved my SHSH for 4.0 with TU

2. When I open TU, it shows me the SHSH with all info like serial, FW, baseband, mode # correct but saved SHSH says iphone 3GS 4.1 (8B117) instead of 4.0 (8A293)
3. When I put my phone in DFU mode, itune detects the phone but Tiny umbrella says device not connected.
4. With this state when I try to restore with the downloaded ipsw, it throws error 3002 after verifying with apple.
5. I have checked that TU is able to update my host file so there is no permission issue.

pls help, i do need a carier unlock also as i'm moving out of US after two days so dont eant to do official itunes recovery

You cannot save SHSH for 4.0 anymore as Apple stopped signing it months ago. It sounds like you just have SHSH for 4.1. Your best bet would be to wait for the new pwnage tool to come out so that you can update to 4.1 and preserve your baseband so that you can still unlock.

thank u so much for your help...my problem is that I'm moving out of US after two days...so was thinking to restore it to 4.1 so that even if that doesnt work i can go to apple store and change my phone before leaving US...what do you think, is that a right approach....as far as waiting for unlock is concerned i can wait for it but there is one more hitch...i'm on at&t contract right now and would be terminating it on thursday...can the phone be uncloked later even after i terminate the contract and go to my home country?

If you restore to 4.1 you will lose the ability to unlock, so do not do that. Pwnage tool should be out pretty soon. If you change your phone try to make sure it doesn't come with 4.1 already installed on it or it might be a bit of a wait (probably a couple months) before a new unlock come out.

i can wait for unlock but want to make sure that my phone is fine and right now its stuck on apple logo...will restoring it to 4.1 make it permanently unlockable....sorry too many ques but i'm totally new to this jailbreak and unlock thing..mine was a fresh 3gs from AT&T :-(

There is a new unlock in the works, but like I said is still probably at least a month or two off.
