How to upgrade 3g to OS4.1 and keep unlock/jailbreak
I have a 3g phone that is unlocked on T-Mobile and is jailbroken.
It is:
3.1.2
Baseband: 04.26.08
Bootloader: 6.4
Model: MB704
Can I upgrade to the latest OS 4 (is it 4.1?) and still remain unlocked to use on T-Mobile and keep the Jailbreak? I'm finding several of my apps that require OS 4 now.
I don't want to mess up this phone. Can someone walk me through the steps?

Just did this very thing. Here's what you do:
Make sure you're on at least iTunes 9.x--I think >9.1
sync/backup your phone
Download the following:
Official iOS 4.1 for 3G
Snowbreeze LATEST
Cook yourself a custom 4.1. Follow available guides as necessary. I prefer to add only Cydia and then later install jb apps. Say yes to (h)activate.
When the fw is done, it'll be on your desktop. Shift-restore through iTunes.
When it's done, open Cydia; let it do it's thing; re-open, and install ultrasn0w. I don't think you'll have to add the repo, but you may: repo666.ultrasn0w.com

Where do I download "iOS 4.1 for 3G"?
What does "Snowbreeze LATEST" mean?
What does "cook yourself a custom 4.1" mean?
I don't understand this! haha

Hey, I'm on an iPhone 3G and I tried ALL this last night and had no luck. I would reccommend to you not to use sn0wrbreeze. I am on a windows computer and so I can't use Pwnage either. I'm going to wait until 4.2 comes out with a carrier unlock.

OK, I was going to try today. However, snowbreeze is a PC file. I'm on a mac.
How about steps for a mac user?

Pwnge tool is mac .. snowbreeze is windows ..
if u do this check the dev team homepage for the pwngtool! i alreadz had 4.2 beta on my 3g but .. useless >D and 4.1 is totaly laggy saty with 3.1.3

Reviving this thread----I still have a 3G on 3.1.3. Is there an untethered JB/unlock for the 3G on 4.2 yet?
