Error 3014 (cannot restore iPhone 3G)
Went into DFU mode to jailbreak a 4.1 version with beta 4 release of limera1n today, followed the steps but as soon as the DFU mode was entered, limera1n went in wait mode and iTunes forced to go and restore the phone. But when clicking the Update and Restore to the latest (4.1) version, iTunes popped up the error: "The iPhone "xyz" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (3014)."
Anyone have an idea to how I can effectively restore the phone? I have restarted the procedure over several times- Thanks for your help!

3G
I saw that also when it was too late. This is why I tried restoring to original 4.1 version...but when doing that, this is exactly where I get this 3014 error. Actually didn't ever get further than getting into DFU mode. So why do I get this error when restoring and what to do next?
Thanks!

I get the same error. I jailbroke my ipod touch 2g and it is really slow so i try to do a legitimate restore by pressing the restore button and it gives me an error 3014 after it was done with extracting the software.
Please help guys

go to c: \windows\system32\drivers\etc\ open the host file with notepad/word pad, whichever, delete the last line you entered(should end in gs.apple.com i believe). then save. that should work.

Reason is you have to point back to apple for verification.

Also for anyone else getting that error code, since ive seen it on a lot of boards.
The other reason itll give you that error code is if you have wifi sync installed. If you still are having trouble and have the app installed,..uninstall it from yr computer.
