Well considering the circumstances why Rock was taken over by Cydia...it says something :P
Rock was utilizing speed all the wrong ways and I'm glad Saurik caught that and took over. It's for the better

I admit it, Rock had more user-friendly/familiar behavior, plus was faster, but Cydia is more powerful. Cydia is more "advanced" and Rock is more "user friendly" which is weird.

The only reason rock was faster was because it cut corners with deviant and APT (code wise) leading to many instabilities, I think it's good it's gone, no more people complaining about how new rock updates mess up there device

Yeah. It made me restore 4 times already. From now on, it's Cydia.

I personally never had these problems using Rock, The main reason I liked Rock over Cydia [Cydia was still good none the less] was the download queue was better on rock, cuz you could be downloading something and searching for something else at the same time

^ the reason rock could do that was because it wasn't coded properly. I don't
fully understand it, but it's something to do with Debian, and APT not being used adequately, so yes it installed stuff but not necessarily *properly*
your very lucky if you never had problems with it
If you want better details read the news thread on here about cydia taking over rock

I never understood the fascination with Rock's UI. IMHO it was too over the top, way too many bells and whistles trying to be jammed into such a small window. It reminds me of a friend back in school who would highlight entire pages from the text books with 3 or 4 colors of highlighters. I'll take Cydia's native looking UI anyday.

I never had a single issue with rock, and I used it from the day it came online. I don't care about "cut corners", or any other crap people whined about.... IT WORKED! 3 times in the past year and a half, I had to restore because Cydia would launch to the default screen and then crash back to springboard.
I never needed a microscope to buy an app from Rock!
Both have/had their good points and bad, but in the end, Cydia gave me a lot of grief, and Rock gave me none. And the best thing Rock gave me that Cydia can't... A customizable fully automatic restore of all my JB apps when a new OS came out.
So, when the new iPhone 4 jailbreak for 4.1 comes out, I can look forward to wasting countless hours trying to get my phone back the way it was...
Launch Cydia
Wait for "loading data" & "downloading packages"
Search for app or tweak I need
Install
Restart springboard
OVER AND OVER AND OVER, 138 times
I don't know why they couldn't just wait until the 4.1 jailbreak came out to kill rock, but my backups are still on Rock's server, and I have the 2.60.1 deb file, so i'm hoping for the best!Praise the Devs! To each and every one of you who spend your time writing code and making apps for little or no profit... Its YOU that makes the iPhone great, NOT Apple!! From me to you, a million thanks!!

^You know that you can install multiple packages at once, right?
Besides, for all we know they could release the updated Cydia before the jailbreak is released and reinstalling packages could be something nobody ever has to worry about.
