iPhone 3g Wont Update

hey guys,

i started of this morning with iphone 3g on 3.1.3 jailbroken with spirit
i followed a video by dinozambas he said that iphone3g can be jailbroken on any firmware useing sn0wbreeze
so i get sn0wbreeze run and all the other stuff get the finished file do a shift restore and it starts going on then when it gets to the restore from back up screen it says something about theirs a error and i cant back up or restore
so i put it back in dfu mode and restore to 3.1.3
i then remembered about spirit to pwn so i tryed to install that and gave errors while installing but it was still installed so i try that and the firmware wont go on at all this time it just got stuck in dfu mode
so i downgrade it again

i thought sn0wbreeze isnt worth it al wait for redsn0w

then i tryed to update to 4.1 officially in itunes but keep getting this error



i spent over 8hrs trying to get all this work and am back where i started

where did i go wrong or how do i get to work with snowbreeze or update with jb

Mine is fine, Sn0wed it earlier on
But it's going back to 3.1.3 again tmz, 4.x fw is NOT worth having on old gen devices, if I were you I wouldn't waste the time and just stick with 3

wont restore coz of my host files i dont no how to fix

Ive seen that error before there's a recent post on here that has a fix, simply by editing the hosts file.

Have you played around with tiny umbrella or edited your host file? If so that may be why you can't connect to apple. You will need to put a # in front of cydias ip address in your host file, if by chance you did mess with it.

That error is caused by editing the host file (i too had that error for editing the host file). The iPhone 3G doesn't have shsh checks so no need to touch the host file. Why not upgrade to 4.1 and use the newest version of redsn0w (0.9.6 that is) Its wayy easier than sn0wbreeze.
And btw, the iPhone 3G has been able to be jailbroken on any firmware for a while now.
