Do new basebands ever help?
All this talk about unlocking and such has made me wonder, do the new basebands that Apple releases ever help with, or fix anything, or are they just updates to close holes that are exploited by unlockers?
Baseband is the software linking wireless service to the phone, correct?--= Fortes fortuna adiuvat =--

Yes baseband is what links network to phone, it deals with raw "signal" and makes it readable for the phone..
As for new basebands, theyll have bug fixes/ performance enhancements, i actually noticed a difference in signal when i updated my 3g to 4.1.. But mostly theyre just to patch the vulnerability that hackers found..
