    Default IPhone 4 32gb issues

I just bought a 32gb iPhone off of Craiglist for 170.00, less than 3 days old, according to the seller, model a1332. She said it was jailbroken and unlocked, but when she tried to rest all settings it frozeup, (obviously) and now it just boots to the Apple logo, Is there a way I can find out what firmware is on this thing so I know what file to restore it with, when I tried 4.0 & 4.0.1 it said itunes is unable to restore this iPhone... Any ideas?

It can only be either of the two, if didn't work then i guess she didn't jailbreak long enough for her Shsh's to save. Try again without tinyumbrella, just with the hosts mod

None of this makes sense...what do I need to try?

And what are the steps? I am an old school iPhone modder, not up to par quite yet with the new ways

Tried restoring it via itunes and DFU with the screen black with 4.0 / 4.0.1 and nothing but a 3002 error.. any ideas guys?

when I try to do that, it says I cannot edit, and I must save it somewhere else.. I am the computer administrator as well..

Here is what my current host file is..

    # Copyright (c) 1993-2009 Microsoft Corp.
    #
    # This is a sample HOSTS file used by Microsoft TCP/IP for Windows.
    #
    # This file contains the mappings of IP addresses to host names. Each
    # entry should be kept on an individual line. The IP address should
    # be placed in the first column followed by the corresponding host name.
    # The IP address and the host name should be separated by at least one
    # space.
    #
    # Additionally, comments (such as these) may be inserted on individual
    # lines or following the machine name denoted by a '#' symbol.
    #
    # For example:
    #
    # 102.54.94.97 rhino.acme.com # source server
    # 38.25.63.10 x.acme.com # x client host

    # localhost name resolution is handled within DNS itself.
    # 127.0.0.1 localhost
    # ::1 localhost

Right click and click "run as administrator". Or you can try to do it in safe mode.

Wow, lucky to get that for $170. Damn!

Anyway, get TinyUmbrella to check what FW it is on and check to see if the SHSHs are saved. If the SHSHs aren't there, you can't do a restore without going up to 4.1, which you don't want.

What I don't get is why she didn't get it exchanged at Apple as it's under warranty :/ Maybe you can do that if there are no signs of jailbreak on it.
