    Default Unlocked USA iphones in UK

    Hi

    Just a quick question, do unlocked iphones from the USA work in the Uk on the UK networks.

    If it is factory unlocked then yes no problem, if it is software unlocked then depeending on the model it could be more tricky as when you restore the firmware it would need to be activated by the sim from the carrier it is locked to - so you would need to hacktivate and then unlock. For example I have an American at&t locked 3g 16gb which i use in the uk - currently on 4.0.1 - used redsn0w to jailbreak and hacktivate and then ultrasn0w to unlock - works fine. But on newer 3gs or i4 units if you can't hacktivate you will be stuck.
