Exclamation SSH into iphone in recovery mode - please help

I have a jailbroken 4.0.1 iphone 4 with openssh installed. It wont boot out of recovery mode (I tried tiny umbrella) so can I SSH into it and undo the file thats causing the problem? maybe an ssh via USB? I tried itunnel and it didnt work, got stuck at connecting to host. any ideas...im trying to avoid a restore.

I dont think you can SSH into the iphone if it is in recovery, it has to get past a certain part of the boot process before everything is accessible through SSH

Ya you can use things like itunnel to SSH through USB but you have the same roadblock if the phone is going to recovery, the file system isn't loading up, so you can't access it.
