Unable to use App Store on unlocked 3G (4.0.2)

Sorry if this is a newb question it's been since the 2G that I've had to deal with an unlocked Iphone. I've searched around for info but I haven't found anything that quite desrcibes my problem.

Phone is a Iphone 3G jailbroke and unlocked for Tmobile on 4.0.2 dont know what was used to unlock but I do have Cydia. I'm trying to DL some apps from the App store when I go to put in my Itunes login it takes it but then it throws up an error that it can't login and stops the download. It happens on Wifi and Edge can anybody give me a hand on how I can get this fixed?

Download the app on itunes on your pc then connect your iphone and right click on it and choose transfer purchases. See if that loads the apps on their. If so you may be entering the wrong account info or your phone may need a restore.
