Well, goodbye Apple...goodbye modmyi!
I just can't stand it anymore, having to turn off 3G to get bars on my phone, having to hold the phone PERFECTLY to my ear to keep the screen from turning on during calls...it's gotten to the point where I got so fed up with it I called up AT&T and told them I was switching back to my former carrier (T-Mobile!)
Their trying to stick me with the 325 ETF but I'm not paying it...in fact I told them I'd go to court over it...I waited past the 30 days because Jobs said they were working on fixes and it sounded like they would be QUICK FIXES, not months down the road...I feel cheated and betrayed by Apple and I'm not going to pay for their mistakes. I told AT&T if they wanted their ETF to call up Apple to get it cause they wouldn't be getting it from me. I'm not going to keep paying almost 80 bucks a month for a phone I can barely use...since I've had the phone I've barely even used 1/4 of my minutes because of the reception issue.
I just went back to my HD2 yesterday and am glad to be back. I'll miss the 720p video recording but I'll get over it. I just couldn't hack this any longer!
Good luck to all with this crappy phone...you'll need it!"Don't hold it like that!"

Don't give up, **** apple , AT&T and steve jobs. We are our own community here and the devs make sure we get what we want. The HD2's performance is terrible as is T-mobile but I wish you luck. ( if you see the other quiter GeoHot, tell him we all said wazup.

That's odd. The proximity sensor issue for the iPhone 4 in our family was cured with a simple Restore/Setup As new combination. As far as 3G goes...I hope you don't do any traveling with TMo because their coverage is far worse than AT&T's. You don't have to even leave AT&T to get a better phone than your HD2. They have the Samsung Captivate which is a very nice phone. Tmo has it too just under another name.

Ive had to do this in areas with weak 3G signal or in areas with high 3G usage (big cities). Happens on my old 3G, old 3GS and my new Iphone 4. Seems like the phones dont like to switch to edge easily. My husband nearly threw his Iphone out the window trying to call home from San Francisco. Phone would dial and connect but no audio. He was in a hotel lobby at a break from a meeting and a gazillion people all on cell phones and Blackberries. I texted him and told him to turn off 3G and voila- phone connected. Now home 3G works fine. Also happens with my son's Motorola V3xx. He turned his 3G off permanently.

If I've helped you, you can help me by clicking on that Thanks button.
