question re: SHSH blobs saving 4.1 & 4.2
hi guys i was hoping someone can help me better understand this.
i saved my blobs awhile back and they saved as 4.1 today i wanted to resave them, i dont know why and the new file is 4.2.
can someone explain the diffence as to why the files names are different.
is it with the signing? although it says 4.2 its 4.1? confused!!!
also im running windows and windows wont open the files for me. i get " windows needs to locate the program to open this file etc...."
any help would be great. thanks

You mean 4.0.1 and 4.0.2.
That is because Apple no longer signs 4.0.1 since 4.0.2 is out. So 4.0.2 is all you can get signed anymore.

There is no reason to open the file. What are you needing to do?

Once you do it the first time Cydia will auto save every firmware that comes out from that point. Just like mine has all firmwares from the point I pressed make my life easier in Cydia and I have only jumped a couple firmwares but it still saves every firmware as they come along.
I am on 4.0 but he saved 4.0.1 and 4.0.2 for me even though I haven't touched them and don't plan on going to them.

ok ok interesting. so every firmware is saved yet, currently the only firmware that is able to be used is 4.0.1
i guess that makes sense, what im confused about is even though im on firmware 4.0.1 it saved as 4.0.2
that doesnt make sense to me. how can it save 4.0.2 if i dont have that firmware?
me >>>totally new>> so green there isnt even a color name for it...

Just cuz youre on 4.0.1 doesnt mean you cant save other fw blobs. Are you sure you got the 4.0.1 blobs? Cuz if Cydia or tinyumbrella says 4.0.2 saved, you dont have 4.0.1 you have 4.0.2 saved.

Saurik's server runs a type of script shortly after new firmware release that grabs the new firmwares SHSH. This is why it says you have one that you never went to.

cydia says that this device has 4.0 and 4.1 on file.
tiny umbrella doesnt have the log file for when i saved awhile back but i have it in my .shsh folder.
tiny umbrella also says"
ill be updating TinyUmbrella in the next day or so to reflect the new 4.0.2 / 3.2.2 defaults even though this iOS version is completely worthless for jailbreaking... However, it is ALWAYS important to save your SHSH because you will never know what the next iOS version will bring and what will and will not be possible with it
im not sure why my log file wont show up on the TU log, i guess it just runs the current save.
bottom line i dont want to lose my JB. im sorry im just really trying to figure this out.

If Cydia says it has them you should be fine.
What does TinyUmbrella say when you select "Display SHSH"?
Mine says something along the lines of "iPod 2G 4.0" (sorry I cant remember exactly).
