    Default iPhone Sync Data Recovery

    Model: iPhone 3Gs 16gb
    Firmware: 3.1.3
    Baseband: 5.11.07
Status: Jailbroken and Unlocked for T-Mobile
PC User on Windows 7 (64-Bit) and Windows XP (dual boot setup)

I did a sync last night, and I noticed this morning that all but about 8 of my contacts were gone, and all but 3 of my notes were gone as well. iTunes still shows my backups (some back to last year) available, but when I go to Shift + Restore and navigate to the MobileSync > Backup folder, I get the GUID format of my backups, and iTunes won't let me restore. How can I recover my data before sunrise?

Thanks! That was my first move, but when I go that route and shift + restore through the general process, won't I be forced onto 4.0.1/2 and lose my jailbreak/unlock? I know it can be jailbroken/unlocked again, but I don't want to get into the iOS4s until the lagginess is worked out.

I'd also like to know how to prevent my phone/iTunes from dropping all my data during a sync again. I can handle my phone losing the data, but when iTunes deletes everything from Outlook too, I worry.

Worked like a charm. Jailbreak and unlock still intact!

Awesome. Glad it worked for you. I recently had to use it too.
