iphone will not stop checking email after jailbreak

For some reason my iPhone 3G will not stop checking email after Jailbreaking.

Not sure if it is a setting I am missing or if it is related to intelliscreen

Any help is greatly appreciated

Have you tried messing with the Push settings to see if it makes a difference?

I am not sure where that setting is. But the settings I configured are:

settings/mail/fetch new data=off
settings/notifications=off

Sorry, I forgot about these settings also

settings/mail/fetch new data=manually
settings/mail/fetch new data/advanced, on both accounts I set the schedule to manual
